I realize that Excel is an unfamiliar program to some of you so I would like you to use this opportunity to share what you’ve learned. You are also encouraged to post any questions that you have so that your classmates may be able to help guide you to a solution. Please keep in mind this is not designed to have someone do your assignment for you, but to continue and share in the learning process.
It has been about three years since I have used Excel in my last job. I was a little aprrehensive about Excel 2007 because I worked with 2003 version and thought I would resort to my bad excel habits (I self taught). I got he work done but not in most efficient way.
ReplyDeleteAfter reading the chapter, Excel 2007 seems very user friendly. The spreadsheets look very intimidating but they really aren't. The lab's we just completed in word, I feel were much harder. I know time will tell. Let's see what chapter 7 has us doing.
I really enjoy Excel, and I really like 2003, now that I'm using 2007 I can see that it is even more user-friendly. You can do so much with Excel and I am actually going to enjoy chapter 7 because I feel like most people are self-taught Excel users but it doesn't have to be that way now! I always just did the cheap looking version of charts and tables but now we will be able to make very nice ones.
ReplyDeleteI think Excel is a very useful program and it IS very user friendly. After doing the homework on SAM, I've learned different things about Excel that I did not know before. I did not know how to create a chart in Excel and as everyone will see it is not that bad at all.
ReplyDeleteHello everyone,
ReplyDeleteI myself have never used Excel, but hey that's what learnings all about. I hope your right about it being user friendly. Well take care.
I use Excel a great deal in my job and I that there is much more that it can do that I have no knowledge of. it has been nice to get a bit of a refresher on some of the things I already know.
ReplyDeleteDid anyone have trouble with SAM recognizing that you inserted the chart in cell A10? It seemed to be very particular as to exactly where I placed it.
I have had extensive experience with excel but still can't seem to get into the download to actually apply the work...I was unable to attend yesterday per doctor's orders so I have to wait for the 11/5.
ReplyDeleteI just finished entering my SAM assignment for the third time. Everytime I entered it, SAM kept marking me wrong for the A10 chart placement when each time I had it at A10. I would even move it around and put it back...still marked wrong.
ReplyDeleteI do have to say I am enjoying Excel. I like working with the spreadsheets and look forward to learning more about how to work with Excel.
After going through this chapter and completing the homework I feel much more comfortable with Excel. I think that becoming more acquainted with Word helped, too because it seemed easier to navigate through the ribbon on Excel.
ReplyDeleteChristine and Patti, I fortunately did not have an issue with the placement of the chart but I think it was important that I used the ALT key when moving it. The addition of that key appears to aid in the placement of lines on the exact cell borders. Hope that might help.

I don't have much experience with Excel, nor do I have to use it for my work. I feel pretty comfortable with it and I'm sure this knowledge will help me in the future classes I intend to take.
ReplyDeleteThis is my first time ever using Excel, but it seems pretty straightforward so far. I've never really had a need for any of Excel's features, but the ability to create spreadsheets and the automatic creation of charts is really cool, and I can see where this will be useful in the future!
ReplyDeleteThis week I received a copy of Microsoft Entourage for my Mas, I was interested to see if the excel could be used for the SAM assignment. Unfortunately you can make a spreadsheet but the programs are set up very differently. I still glad I gave it a try at least I can start projects on my Mac and finish them on school computers with the correct styles.
