My Name is Kelly McCabe
ReplyDeleteI do not have a declared major at BCC because I am taking classes without being part of a program; however I have a B.A. in Theatre from RIC.
I am taking this course as a refresher on the finer points of the various Microsoft Office programs and also to learn a logical order to teach it to my mother.
I have a great deal of basic experience with Microsoft Word (mostly for school) and some experience with Excel, and PowerPoint as well as the less basic functions of Word (also for school).
Most of my Microsoft Office experience has been with Office 03, but I have a little experience with Office 07.
Word has been mostly used to produce papers and reports, although there was a newsletter produced for a class once. Power Point was used to produce slide-shows for a class presentation, and my Excel experience outside of the classroom has been mostly to keep a contact list.
1 My name is Rebecca Myers
ReplyDelete2 I am taking the Accounting Career track at BCC
3 This is a Required course for me to take but I also wanted to take it as a refresher course for my self.
4 I have taken a computer class in the last two years at Mass. College of Liberal Arts. I feel as if it was the equivalent to CIS 110 but BCC has not yet decided that. My Laptop has 2007 on it and I have been using that for the last 2 years for everything from doing simple homework assignments to creating projects to things for my self. Access is the only program that I have not really used.
Hello,
ReplyDeleteMy name is Ashley Lander.
I am a Communications Major at BCC. This is my second semester.
I am hoping to transfer to Bridgewater State in the next year and a half and continue with Communications and maybe a minor in Marketing.
I am taking this course because I know some basic elements about Microsoft Office but I would like to know more. A lot of work today is done on computers and I want to be ready when that time comes for me.
Again, I know some basic elements like Word, PowerPoint, Excel, but that’s about it.
I have been using the 2007 edition for a couple of years now.
I have made PowerPoint’s for a couple of classes and I make Excel spreadsheets for work. I mostly use Word for both work and school, making templates or to keep track of my work hours.
I am looking forward to learning more about Microsoft Office 2007.
Hi, my name is Christine Richards.
ReplyDeleteI am enrolled in the Associate Business Administration program. I'm taking this course because of going for the degree, but also to learn more. I have limited experience with Excel, Access, Word and Outlook (2007). I've used the programs for work applications, but only what was needed. Never being able to create and explore or truly knowing how to navigate through the program has been frustrating.
Most of my experience was with spreadsheets. I have never taken any kind of formal class to learn this, so I am truly looking forward to participating in this class.
Hello,
ReplyDeleteMy name is Kerri Ann Lima and I am majoring in Business Administration here at Britol Community College. I plan on transferring back to UMass Dartmouth to complete a Bachelors degree in Business Administration. In addition to this course being a degree requirement I also hope to gain much understanding in the programs that I use daily at work; these programs include 2007 outlook, powerpoint, word, excel and access.
I have used the 2003 versions of the above mentioned programs and just recently began using 2007. I just finished a monthly newletter in publisher and I am working on a farewell party invitation for a co-worker at BCC. I keep track of student information using an access database, I use powerpoint to create slide shows for different departmental meetings and I deal with excel spreadsheets daily as I help track the budgets for my department. I also use word on a daily basis in putting together different documents, lists and flyers. I use outlook at work and on my computer at home because I truly believe it helps to keep me organized between my hectic work life, home life and school life. I look very forward to learning as much as possible in this course. Good luck to you all and I hope you all have a successful semester!

ReplyDeleteHello my name is Crystal Gleason and this is my first semester at BCC. I am in the Business Administration program and i hope to transfer to UMass Dartmouth to pursue my Bachelors. I look forward to this course as I have very little experience with MS Office. I am taking this course so I can learn more about utilizing these programs.
ReplyDeleteHi my name is James Nadeau and my declared major at BCC is General Studies (MassTransfer). My intention is to transfer to Bryant University for a degree in communications. I have used MS Office a lot all throughout grade school and high school. I am familiar with the major aspects of it (i.e. Word, Powerpoint, Excel) more than the others. I have used 2007 but I only own 2003 so I am very familiar with it. I have used MS Word for both work and school composing resumes, newsletter, and term papers. I usually use Excel for organizational purposes at work and school to make graphs or charts. This is my first CIS course but I am taking it to fill a requirement and familiarize myself more with these programs.
ReplyDeleteHello, my name in Aja Pascual. I am majoring in Business Entrepreneurship. I am 29 years old and would like to try and leave my mark on the world. I graduated "Class of 2000", so I am a little rusty. When it comes to computer programs like Power Point and Excel, etc. Windows is the program that I have the most experience with, whether it be writing a letter or a paper when I was in school. Recently I've been using the good old pen or email.I have been looking through the course book and I am looking forward to learning more computer programs. I have never taken a computer course so in depth before. In all, this course is positive because it helps me fulfill the requirements of my major and will help me with my future endeavors in life.
ReplyDeleteMy name is James Toomey and I am currently enrolled in the Geotourism program offered at BCC. Though I don’t have any formal plans for transfer, I have begun research into schools, such as the University of Colorado, to continue my education in this field. Pursuing a degree in business is also an option I have become interested in.
ReplyDeleteI have recently installed Office 2007 on my computer but most of my past experience with Microsoft Office has been with Word 2003. I have used Word a lot more since enrolling in college to write papers and complete homework. I feel comfortable with the basic functions of this program.
I have a small amount of experience with both PowerPoint and Excel, but I have never used Access. I have created PowerPoint presentations for a few of my other classes with the extent of my knowledge being basic and limited to text and slide creation. As for Excel, I have used it only a handful of times to create phone lists and time schedules.
I have not taken CIS 110 and the reason I am taking CIS 111 is because it is a prerequisite for my course of study. With that said, I am excited to increase my knowledge and understanding of all of these programs.
Hello everyone
ReplyDeleteMy name is Phil Tetreault and I am currently enrolled in the General Health program at BCC. Once this year is through I plan on transfering to another school(undecided) for radiology. My reasoning behind me takign this course is that I am efficient in the subject matter and needed an extra 3 credits. I have used both 2003 and 2007 MS Office in the past. The only program that I do not have much experience using is Access. I did an internship over the last four summers at the New Bedford Housing Department in the MIS office. throughout my time I produced a walkthrough handbook of the client program used by the offices of the different housing developments. This was done in Microsoft Word 2003. I also did many spreadsheets using Excel in my time there. I hope this class in enjoyable and I am looking forward to it.
Hello Everyone,
ReplyDeleteMy name is Sue Cunningham and I am currently a HR Management Major at UMASS Dartmouth. I have used Office 2003 mostly at work (memos, compensation spreadsheets, and presentations). My experience with Office 2007 has only been with Word and PowerPoint for schoolwork (papers, presentations, analytic reports). I have never used Access.
I am taking this course because it is a required course and to learn a more efficient/proper way to use these programs. Everything I know has always been self-taught so I believe there are easier ways to do things on these programs than my way.
Hello everyone.
ReplyDeleteMy name is Arthur Ostiguy, but all my friends call me Artie.
I'm enrolled in the certificate class of small business @ entrepreneurship.
I have very little computer skills and my little bit of experience w/ word.
I'm taking this course as a requirement, and this is my very first blog.
Hello,
ReplyDeleteMy name is Meagan Willett. I am in the Business Administration Transfer Program and I am hoping to transfer in the spring to Fitchburg State College, where I can complete my bachelors degree.Since I am a business admin major, this is the elective that I chose to take. I am very familiar with the programs like Word, Excel, and Powerpoint. i have never used Access before at all. I took another course last semester CIT 11 that also helped me with the different programs of Microsoft Office. I have used both 2003 and 2007 version of Microsoft Office, but use the 2007 one the most. In Microsoft Word, I have written many different reports and term papers. I have used Excel in my other computer class to do different types of formulas and spreadsheets. I have also created many different things on Powerpoint, such as a visual aid.
Hi everyone, my name is Patti Camara and I am in the Business Administration program.
ReplyDeleteI am currently undecided on if I will continue onto a four year school once I complete my associates degree here at BCC.
I have been using Word, Excel and PowerPoint for close to 20 years, first as a student and then in my work. I have recently began to use Access, but that is still as work in progress. I have used versions, 2003, 2007 and most recently 2010, I am certain that I have used older versions as well, but don't recall what they were. In MS Word I regularly draft up contracts and with Excel I use it for creating reports, because you are able to easily sort the information and re-format as needed. I have used Power Point to do presentations. Access as I mentioned is relatively new to me but essentially it works as a database. You can use it to collect data and then retrieve it. I have used these programs for school and work, but most of my experience, I would say comes from my job. I had taken CIS110 as my very first class at BCC, I found it to be too elementary for me and found I got very little out of the class.
I am taking this class as a requirement for my degree program, but most importantly I am hoping to learn more about the programs and how to better utilize them.
Hi! My name is Tim Boucher and my major is Computer Information Systems. I'm planning on transferring to UMass Dartmouth. My experience with Office is limited to 2007. I have taken an intro course to get some skills because previously I've had none. I've also taken CIS 53 but don't know if that's the equivalent of 110. I've since used Word in an English class and have used PowerPoint to help my daughter with a presentation for her class. I don't have any experience with Access and I've only used Excel in my previous course. I'm taking this class as a requirement and am excited to build on the little knowledge I have now.
ReplyDeleteHi! My name is Kelly Medeiros. I am a Business Major (Financial Services minor) here at BCC. Right now, my focus is getting my associate degree, we will see if the future takes me to Umass Dartmouth to further my education. I have experience with Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Publisher, Outlook and Access 2003 and recently upgraded to 2007, which I am just now getting used to. I've produced fliers, powerpoint presentations, and process accounts recievable and accounts payable for peer's small business. I have used these programs primarily for school purposes, however I do use them sometimes for work and to create contact databases. I have not taken any other computer literacy courses and am taking this one because it is a course requirement and I would like to be comfortable with these programs so I can work easily and effectively in an office setting.
ReplyDeleteHey there! May name is Nolan Richardson, I'm currently working my way through a Business Major in General Management, and I'll decide on further my education once I get there. I've used MS Word 2003 and currently have MS Word 2007 on my computer for both school and recreation. I've made a few school projects on PowerPoint but I've never really done anything with spreadsheets or any other MS Office programs. I'm taking this course as a requirement for my degree and I'm hoping to benefit from it, since I only have a very simple understanding of MS Office right now.
ReplyDeleteHelo my name is Corey O'Connell. I work at Hinckley Yacht Services in Portsmouth R.I. as a yacht painter. Due to the economic down turn over the last few years I have come to realize that I need a back-up plan. After I have finished my classes at BCC I will be transfering to SUNY Cobleskill for Wildlife Conservation and Management. I have not worked with Power Point before but have used other MS Office programs. This class is not a requirement, but I do feel that in this day and age a general knowledge of these programs is an absolute must regardless of occupation.
